Kansas City, MO
Google Map

Time: 6:00pm – 8:30pm

What is Monday Geek Night? It is a weekly Monday night gathering of geeks who enjoy topics including, but not limited to, application and web development (code of all kinds), entrepreneurship, gaming, marketing, design, movies, the current state of all things tech, and usually beer and other cocktails. This Meetup is very much unstructured – feel free to come and geek out on just about ANYTHING. Laptops more than welcome.

Join us on Labor Day as we get a special tour of the Google Fiber Space. We’ll then head across the parking lot to our own space for our typical Monday night geekery, along with food and drinks provided by Google. We expect to wrap up around 8:30, but surely we won’t have any trouble finding a nearby venue to continue the conversation at.

PLEASE RSVP for this special edition, so we can be sure to have enough food and drink on hand.

KC Roundtable is in existence to provide 20 and 30-something Kansas City entrepreneurs with a group of peers to support and collaborate on each others’ businesses.

Our mission is to:

  • Focus on relationship building; not lead generating.
  • Facilitate collaboration, openness, transparency, learning and teaching.
  • Establish an entrepreneurial network.
  • Fill the void of not having the water cooler.

We meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month at our favorite location at First Watch in Westport. In addition to our morning meetings, KC Roundtable provides other opportunities to network with young entrepreneurs such as events like Just For Starters & After Hour events. New Landings HQ

Lenexa, KS 66214

Free to attend.

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

In the current job market, with unemployment hovering at around 9%, and the “broad unemployment rate” nearly 18%, it is absolutely essential that your resume make you irresistible to hiring managers.  It needs to highlight the skills you can bring to any position, and minimize any liabilities that would keep you from getting an interview.  You need a resume that really tells an employer what you bring to a position that separates you from the crowd.  You need to communicate YOUR STORY.

If you are getting no response from your current resume, you owe it to your career and yourself to attend this free workshop.

In this two-hour workshop, Tammy Kabell will teach you step-by-step how to put together the components of a successful resume.  She will help you identify your skills that can be transferred to multiple industries, as well as resume strategies to overcome obstacles in your search, such as long unemployemnt or advanced experience / age.  Most importantly, Tammy will show you how to craft a resume that truly defines your strengths and achievements, and shows your next employer what you are capable of.

Social Media Club of Kansas City Monthly Meeting

Location:
Google Fiber Space

1814 Westport Road
Kansas City, MO
Google Map

Time: 7:30am – 10:00am

Cost: Admission is $5, and a complimentary breakfast will be provided by Google.

Meet us at the Google Fiber Space for a special SMCKC breakfast featuring an inside look at Google Fiber, plus a presentation from the SMCKC-ers behind VisitKC’s All-Star Game Command Center.

You read about it in the Star. You saw it on KCTV5. Or perhaps you were there in the dugout — that is, inside H&R Block’s world headquarters, feverishly responding to tweets with the hashtag #KC before, during, and after the madness surrounding the 2012 MLB All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium July 10.

But how did the All-Star “command center” come about? How did SMCKC join forces with the Mayor’s office, H&R Block, Barkley, and Visit KC to turn Kansas City into the social media capital of the sports tourism world for a few heady midsummer days? Find out firsthand from the SMCKC-ers who led us in turning everyday KC visitors into “FanatiKCs.”

Next, representatives from the @GoogleFiber team, will discuss their social media efforts during the Rally period going on through Sept. 9 in Kansas City. Afterwards, those who haven’t seen the interactive displays in the Fiber Space will get a hands-on tour.

Schedule:
7:30 – 8am: Arrive, enjoy complimentary breakfast provided by Google
8-9am: All-Star Command Center Report
9-9:30am: Google Fiber & Social Media
9:30-10: Tour the Fiber Space

Register for SMCKC Breakfast  (Waitlist now active)
