Job Search/Networking Events Week of January 3

It is the start of a new year! We hope you enjoyed this blog in 2010 and will continue to visit this blog in 2011. This year, there are plans on the horizon to offer more guest posts and interviews with job seekers describing what they are looking for. It is our hope that the information we provide on this blog will help you to find a new job or make connections with people at the various networking events. Remember, we also have a Job Leads page where we will post hot jobs as they are sent to us. We will start adding a date to each job listing so you are aware of when it was posted.

Below are the events/meetings for the week of January 3. As always, if you know about other career fairs, meetings or events that would benefit job seekers, please send a note to jobseekersview@gmail.com. Thank you.

Are you sabotaging your job search?  If you find yourself struggling with the job hunting process, you aren’t alone.  When we are going through a transition we often respond in the fight or flight mode which is not a good way to attack your future.  Finding a job is a process of finding out where you want to “play” and going for it at 100%.  No excuses, only results.

Speaker: Lewis Lowry

Topic: “The Pursuit of PHA (Positive Heartfelt Action)

In this presentation, we will discuss various methods in taking positive heartfelt action in one’s life. This appears to be a simple process, right!  Yet, everyday and especially at the beginning of the New Year, people fail to assert themselves with sustainable actions for success in their personal and professional life.  “Train your head and hands to do, your head and heart to dare (Joseph Cotter).” By taking heartfelt action, one becomes totally engaged and committed to that which he or she aspires to do. That is the Pursuit of PHA!

Speaker Bio:

Lewis Lowry has worked in the corporate environment for over 20 years.  As a public transportation senior executive, Lewis saw the need to address counterproductive actions in school bus operators that repressed them from being their best in their professional and personal life. The 90’s introduced to corporate America how workers should employ a positive mental attitude.  However, it lacked the motivation toward sustaining one’s positive mental practices and actions. It was through this observation that Lewis began working with his operations and division managers on the importance of asserting positive heartfelt actions as a way of life.

Lewis is a member of the MidAmerica Minority Business Development Council.  He supports the council though his volunteer efforts and services to minority businesses.  Lewis is also a business development consultant working with small businesses in both sales and operations efficiency. Lewis is currently a student at Mid-America Nazarene University pursuing a degree in Management and Human Relations.  Lewis’ life is based on four things: keeping God first, embracing the foundation of family, be a Fred and enjoying a great walk on the golf course.
